Maturity model in archival management of documents: a diachronic view

Maturity models have been the object of study in the field of information, as they support organizations in assessing the moment and make it possible to design improvements for the future. Recent scientific communications indicate that these studies are necessary for Archival Document Management (GAD), since the maturity analysis helps organizations in the management of archives and enables access, both for decision-making and for consultation by researchers and citizens. Bearing in mind the role of the National Archives (NA) as guardians of memory and as normalizing entities, this research, of an exploratory and descriptive nature, was carried out to identify and analyze the maturity models in GAD published by the NAs of the countries of South America. As a result, two models were identified: one published by Brazil and the other by Colombia. The research concludes that maturity analysis is a necessary and promising area of study for the field of information, as it adds value to processes and promotes the development of the scientific field through quantitative and qualitative analysis. In addition, although it was not the purpose of the work, it was evident that GAD is one of the pillars of Organizational Intelligence.
