Historicity and universality: reflexion on human rights

This essay intends to analyse human rights from a historical and philosophical perspective. The main aim is a critical evaluation of the controversy between universalists and relativists. In order to do this, the article will consider the concept of utopia. This concept will allow us to realize how dogmatic are the studies concerning this matter and how this perspective can harm human rights in their main goal, that is, the protection of human dignity. Utopia can offer an unexpected solution to challenges involved in human right's fulfilment.
