A dialogue about freedom: the contributions of Paulo Freire and John Dewey for the construction of an education with democratic bases

摘要
Does democratic education arise from society's directions or is it an instrument that drives change through its practices? We sought to answer this question through a bibliographical analysis articulating the philosophical theories of John Dewey with those of the patron of education, Paulo Freire. Both perceived the school as a space of social organization, envisioning an articulation between education and politics in the classroom linked to practical experiences of democracy within the institutions and reverberating beyond them.
