摘要
This article provides a methodological and analytical proposal for the study of migration and social mobility from a transnational approach. It is based on the biographical method and, specifically, on conducting interviews with different members of transnational families, both in the migrant population's country of origin and the host country. It considers an intergenerational and longitudinal approach. The analytical framework approaches social mobility is based on the concepts of projects, strategies and trajectories of social and spatial mobility, from three levels: micro, applied to the individual migrant; meso, to the transnational family; and macro (structural determinants). The application of this methodology to fieldwork carried out with Ecuadorian and Brazilian families (with a total number of 69 interviews), allows us to define a typology of social mobility dynamics in the transnational space: upward, downward and non-concurrent social mobility.
