ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND MOBILITY: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

The lack of effective policies for sustainable mobility in Ecuador has impacted urban ecology and quality of life. This analysis examines the role of environmental education in promoting conscious and sustainable mobility practices. It highlights the need for coherent public policies to promote sustainable mobility and alternative energies in Ecuadorian cities. Environmental education emerges as a key tool to drive behavioral changes towards more conscious mobility. Collaboration between universities and government entities is suggested to integrate sustainability principles into public policies, when facing challenges associated with dependence on fossil fuels and the loss of green spaces. Effective integration of environmental education into policies could lead to a more equitable, sustainable, and environmentally conscious future in Ecuador.
