The implementation of covenants aiming at innovation: impacts for the university side according to the point of view of faculty at the State University of Campinas

The objective of this study is to present the results of research that investigated the involvement of faculty at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) with external institutions in covenants covering agreements and partnerships. Based on a exploratory qualitative research, the study was based on literature review and the implementation of semi-structured interviews. We sought to understand the (positive and negative) impacts of this relationship over teaching and research activities. The studied focused on academic faculty of the School of Education (FE) and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC). The results indicate that, although relationships between faculty and external institutions is a topic that raises many question, faculty realize that partnerships can contribute with positive values to the University, facilitating to the circulation and exchange of human resources, and may even pose new challenges and topics to be investigated, among other contributions. Among the negative aspects pointed out are work overload and absence from the classroom.
