摘要
Different metaverse applications vary widely in terms of their carbon footprints and environmental impacts. In general, leisure and enjoyment activities of the consumer metaverse has adverse energy and environmental consequences. Many industrial metaverse applications, on the other hand, are likely to have a positive envi-ronmental impact. This editorial analyzes the current stage of development patterns and use of different meta -verse applications and critically evaluates the pollution-generating and pollution-reducing effects of the metaverse.
