Chipped Stone Finds Along the Anatolian Black Sea Coast: Tekkeköy-A Shelter, Samsun, Turkey

The archaeological studies in the Black Sea Region of Turkey have long been neglected in comparison to other regions in the country. Despite increasing numbers of excavations and surveys regarding the post-prehistoric period, the prehistoric cultural heritage of the region is still not widely known in the archaeological world. Having said that, the Tekkekoy-A Shelter excavation conducted by I.K.Kokten in the 1940s is one of the oldest archaeological research attempts in the region. Owing to Kokten's archive and chipped stone collection in the Prehistoric Archaeology Laboratory at Ankara University, we have obtained new information about his studies on Tekkekoy. The Tekkekoy-A chipped stone collection is a group of unique finds for the Anatolian Black Sea. This study primarily focuses on the limited number of chipped stones uncovered from the Kokten archive and the Tekkekoy-A Shelter excavation, and the limited number of Black Sea finds.
