摘要
Introduction. - Over the past decade, Morocco has experienced a high demand and a heavy workload in its public hospitals. However, few studies have focused on the psychological burden related to this workload on healthcare providers working in these structures. In this context, the present study aimed to explore the factors associated with the burnout syndrome (BOS) among the health personnel of public health facilities in the Draa-Tafilalet region.Methods. - A descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study targeted 2174 health personnel working in public health structures in the Draa-Tafilalet region, Morocco. For this purpose, a self-administered questionnaire in addition to the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) test were used to collect data on which uni-and bivariate statistical analyses were performed.Results. - Participation rate reached 55.8% (n = 1215) with a clear female predominance (sex-ratio = 1.6 9/& MALE;). Statistical analyses of collected data revealed that 57.7% (n = 701) of the participants were in a BOS situation, 30.9% (n = 376) in an intermediate burnout (IBO), whe-reas only 11.4% (n = 138) were declared not professionally exhausted (No burnout). In addition, bivariate statistical analyses indicated that the working place, the trade, the general state of health, and the working conditions are the main factors associated to BOS in the studied population.Conclusion. - Altogether, our findings reveal the existence of an alarming prevalence rate of BOS within the studied population of health professionals, with a non-negligible predisposition to IBO. Therefore, these results reflect the impact of highly stressful working conditions within this population. These psychosocial risks must therefore be considered in order to improve both working conditions of public health professionals and the quality of care provided to users.
