摘要
This review of Leikeli47's 2019 NPR Tiny Desk Concert considers how she resists the ways that the music industry tries to shape performers aesthetic. Considering why Leikeli47 chooses to cover her face, how she uses performance to enact privacy in public spaces is explored. Recognising the influence of Ball culture and the Ballroom scene in Leikeli's sound and style draws attention to the ways that performance enables people to resist gendered binaries and cisgender heteronormative ideals. If the Ballroom generates space for performance to be read, the Tiny Desk Concert might be appreciated as a space for performance to be heard.
