Efficient separation of uranium from aqueous solution using sustainable biomass: an insight of adsorption isotherm and kinetics

摘要
Green biomass is significant as it is a sorbent used to remove uranium(VI) from aqueous phase. The effects of solution pH (2-10), adsorbent dose (0.01-0.3gm), retention time (5-70 min), and initial concentration (10-200 mg L-1) on the uptake of uranium(VI) were investigated. According to the Langmuir isotherm model, the maximum adsorption capacities for Amla bark were 54.945 mg L-1. Moreover, the experimental data was best suited by a pseudo-second order kinetic model (r(2) = 0.993). According to the findings of the desorption investigation, employing EDTA, the first cycle of the used sorbent recovered 74.3% of its initial uranium.
