The objective of the present study was to evaluate academic stress and its relationship to academic performance in university students. The participants were 451 students from two universities in Alicante, whose ages ranged from 18 to 30 years (M = 20.52, SD = 4.80). Of these, 57.2% were women and 42.8% were men. The REDGeneral Questionnaire, or Questionnaire of Resources, Emotions/Experiences and Demands in users of ICT (2011), was applied. The results indicated moderately high levels of technostress among the students, with higher technostress being observed in the study sample when compared to the normative population. These levels were higher among the female gender, younger ages, students of initial courses, and those of degrees not related to the use of ICTs. Likewise, it was found that technostress had a negative influence on academic performance. These data suggested the need to delve into this problem in order to reduce its negative effects among university students.
