Influence of the Composition of a Plasma-Forming Gas on the Properties of Wear-Resistant Coatings Applied by Gas-Thermal Methods

摘要
The results of experimental data and evaluation of the influence of the plasma gas composition on the properties of wear-resistant coatings deposited by various gas-thermal methods are presented. It is shown that, for the majority of existing types of wear-resistant coatings used in various branches of production, plasma sputtering of coatings using argon and nitrogen as the plasma-forming gas may replace the application of wear-resistant coatings using compressed air as the plasma-forming gas. At the same time, the use of a mixture of compressed air and hot hydrocarbons from the exhaust gases of a diesel internal combustion engine of a car as a plasma-forming gas during air-plasma sputtering should be carefully substantiated.
