摘要
The paper discusses a failure of a generation step-up transformer (GSU) and the fault gas formation pattern over its last few days compared to the earlier occurring overheating issue. The DGA based diagnostics demonstrates how the fault type evolved from mild overheating to possible carbonization of paper. The online DGA monitor sent a gas alarm signal to SCADA at an early state of the gassing event. Thus, the utility's maintenance team was able follow the situation closely and simultaneously execute mitigation actions to secure operations.
