摘要
Objective: The objective of this article is to underline the methodological usefulness of the Umbrella Review which constitutes a new alternative to approach the empirical literature. Methodology: The Umbrella Review guide proposed by Joanna Briggs and Cochrane Institute was reviewed, later both proposals were compared to facilitate decision-making for researchers who need to use this type of review. Results: Both proposals have clear guidelines that could allow researchers to carry them out in their respective fields of study. Conclusions: The Umbrella Review could allow researchers to quickly access extensive information on the state of the art or approach to a given topic, which could allow adequate decision-making with the intention of strengthening evidence-based practice. . Originality/Value: In the last five years it has been seen that in English-speaking places, such as England and the United States, there has been a growing interest in this method, however, in the Spanish-speaking community, mainly in the field of education, has not yet gained the necessary strength. That is why it is relevant to share with educators the operational benefits of this documentary method, since it can contribute to the development of knowledge.
