摘要
To realize the recognition of characters such as numbers and letters, the work proposed a character recognition system based on microcontroller unit (MCU). The system used the IAP15F2K61S2 as the main controller, capturing image data through the OV7670 image sensor. The thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFTLCD) showed the images captured by the image sensor and the results of recognition system. When the image capture key was pressed, the MCU read the image data of LCD. Then, it was processed with graying, binarization, character correction and smooth filtering. Finally, character feature extraction and comparison were performed to find the ASCII code of the character, displaying the recognition result. The system, capable of recognizing Arabic numerals and English letters, has a tilt correction function. It can identify multiple characters under different background colors at the same time. After testing, the correct recognition rate is 96% and the recognition speed is about 2 characters per second, which lays the foundation for guiding robot to identify seat number, hotel room number and classroom door number.
