摘要
Power system secure and reliable operation requires the computation of power flows in the network to identify the loading of lines during normal and abnormal operations. Phase shifting Transformers (PST) are used in power transmission systems to control the flow of active power and reactive power management. The optimal location of PST for controlling and scheduling the power flows in the network is the main objective of this work. A Linear search approach is used to determine the optimal locations and taps for the PST to control line power flow. Contingency Analysis (CA) is employed to identify lines that are more sensitive to faults. The proposed method is also compared with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for finding the optimal location and tap of PST. Modeling and simulation are performed in Digsilent PowerFactory and python programming language. The proposed method is applied to IEEE 5 and 14 bus systems to find the optimal location and tap.
