摘要
In this study, a techno-economic, risk and safety assessment of biodiesel generation from waste cooking oil through alkali-catalyzed transesterification process had been conducted. The optimized results indicated that 1026 kg h(-1) of biodiesel was produced from 1050 kg h(-1) of waste cooking oil. Glycerol, the by-product was utilized to produce nitro-glycerine. The total capital expenses were expected to be US$9.62 million, while the total operating expenses were $11.16 million. The plant was economically viable with the simple pay-back period of 6.64 years. Furthermore, a detailed risk assessment and HAZOP were performed.
