La humanidad terrestre. Una filosofía del Antropoceno * Terrestrial humanity. A philosophy of the Anthropocene

In this text I try to combine reflection and narration, by means of a biographical, historical and geological account, in which I explain my Philosophy of History, as I have been developing it over four decades. I start from the triad kosmos/polis/ethos to analyze the crucial event of our time: the Great Acceleration of Anthropocene. The story unfolds in three times, which are also the three strata of my theoretical work: the 1980s debate on the << modern/postmodern >> couple and the shift from the concept of << progress >> to that of << variation >>; the 1990s debate on << globalization >> and the need to rethink the << political >> in order to understand the historical processes of << depoliticization >> and << repoliticization >> of the different social spheres and territorial scales of social interaction; and the debate of the last two decades on the Anthropocene as a new geological epoch in which human beings - or rather, the rich countries of the global North - have become a << geological force >> capable of altering all the natural cycles of the biosphere and endangering the survival of humanity itself.
