摘要
Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) is a severe complication of diabetes causing an economic burden and affecting millions of patients worldwide. Treatment of DFU has gained an attention of biomedical engineering as the traditional methods were having various challenges to overcome which, 3D Scaffolds (Nanofibers) have emerged as potential candidates. Nanofibrous scaffolds are a promising approach as they can mimic extracellular matrix, rejuvenate the skin, and promote the wound healing. This review focuses on the delivery strategies of nanofibers, including their fabrication techniques and different polymers utilized in preparation along with their merits and demerits. Furthermore, the applications of nanofibers and recent patents that got approved have been discussed. Overall, this review attempts to highlight the potential of nanofibers in diabetic foot ulcer treatment and the need for further research and development to optimize their use in clinical settings.
