Evidence in veterinary homeopathy

Recently, homeopathy has been banned from continuing education programs by Medical Chambers in most German federal states. In veterinary medicine, however, homeopathy is still not critically evaluated and even propagated by some organizations. In this review we are evaluating the postulated mechanisms of homeopathy in the light of current scientific knowledge as weil as the clinical evidence in published literature. Further, we are comparing this evidence with the depiction by homeopaths. We are explaining how the postulated mechanisms of homeopathy cannot be reconciled with proven laws of nature. Following the principles of evidence-based medicine, homeopathy has failed to prove efficacy above placebo. Its alfeged modes of action are incompatible with current scientific knowledge. Homeopaths however twist or withhold this information, for which we are showing examples. Homeopathy is based on implausible principles, both medically and scientifically; thus, must be classified as a practice that only works with placebos. Any contrary statements discrediting scientific committees should be dismissed.
