摘要
Odontogenic myxofibroma is a relatively rare tumor which is benign, but locally aggressive. Thus, cases of recurrence are common, and it is difficult to determine the extent of tumor resection. We report on a case of odontogenic myxofibroma that arose in the maxilla. A 31-year-old woman was referred to our department with chief complaints of a mass in the right maxilla. The mass of bone-like hardness was observed on the buccal gingiva of the lateral (second) incisor, canine and first premolar in the right maxilla. The lesion was removed under intravenous sedation by conservative surgery; resection and curettage. Histopathological examination revealed equal amounts of mucoid and fibrous tissue with scattered epithelioid cell masses. On immunohisto-chemistry, the entire tumor tested positive for vimentin, the scattered epithelioid cell masses stained weakly positive for CK19, which suggested odontogenic epithelium. The histopathological diagnosis was odontogenic myxofibroma. Two years have elapsed postoperatively and no recurrence has been noted and the prognosis remains favorable.
