Writing to Be Read. Jorge Guillen's Road to Recognition

The present work covers Jorge Guillen's unpublished correspondence with his daughter Teresa from 1948 until the poet's death in 1984. Through this testimony and with the support of letters addressed to other recipients, it documents the poet's private reactions to the difficulties of publishing his poetry in Spain while in exile; it shows to which extent the recognition he received after the Transition-particularly the Cervantes Prize-was a turning point in his life; and it describes how it influenced the culmination of his complete works with his last book, Final.
