Real-Time Random Body Movement Cancellation and Heart Rate Extraction by RLMD-based Algorithm in an FMCW Radar System

摘要
This paper proposed a method using Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar system and Robust Local Mean Decomposition (RLMD) based algorithm to improve interference caused by Random Body Movement (RBM) and extract heartbeat signals. While traditional Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) suffers mode mixing in RBM and physiological signals, this proposed method overcomes this issue by incorporating the RLMD-based algorithm as a post-processing step. This method deals with incorrect recognition of heartbeat components after EMD decomposition and balances the power densities between heartbeat and respiration, thereby empowering the decomposition of RLMD. In intense body movement experiments, the average heartbeat error is further reduced to 1.84%, and the algorithm shows rapid processing within 0.35 s.
