摘要
This paper approaches the relations between the State, economy, press, and education in the civil-military dictatorship. This study aims to analyze editorials, articles, and news published in the newspapers O Globo, O Estado de Sao Paulo, and Folha de Sao Paulo, which contributed to ideologically justify the 1964 coup, the dictatorship that followed, and the educational reforms of the period. We demonstrate that the educational project of the military governments was legitimized in the name of technical efficiency, economic development, and the modernization of capitalist relations. It was not, therefore, a phenomenon isolated from the historical conditions that forged it but a project inherent to our economy's associated and dependent development. Thus, the defense of equal opportunities and the expansion of vacancies was nothing more than an instrument reinforcing the hegemony of capital over the working class.
