Anti-inflammatory constituents from Bidens tripartita

摘要
Bidens tripartita L., known as the herbal drug three-parted beggarticks of the Asteraceae family recorded in the ethnic medical treatise, is used for the treatment of inflammation-related diseases by ethnic minorities in China. Preliminary investigation showed that the ethyl ester extract of B. tripartita exhibited inhibitory activity on nitric oxide (NO) production using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated murine macrophages. Phytochemical investigation of this extract afforded 21 compounds, including two new compounds (1 and 2), and their structures were determined by spectroscopic and mass spectrometric data. Anti-inflammatory bioassay showed that compounds 3, 7, 9, 10 and 13 significantly inhibited the production of NO with IC50 values of 17.60-25.69 mu M.
