摘要
This study investigates the microstructure and mechanical properties of 6082-T6 aluminum alloy base metal (BM) and repair welds (RW) made using ER5356 aluminum filler metal in the metal inert gas process. Tensile tests were carried out under constant strain rates at various temperatures to establish the tensile strength and fracture location of BM and RW samples. The test results demonstrated that the microstructure of the RW samples had a variance in grain structure due to thermal effects during welding, resulting in a reduction in the hardness and tensile strength of the test specimen. The tensile strength of the RW was roughly 78% of the BM sample at room temperature, and when the temperature of the tensile test was raised, the tensile strength of both samples decreased. The tensile fracture location of RW samples occurred in the heat-affected zone, and the fracture occurred in a ductile mode.
