Das Enzym RIPK1 (Receptor-Interacting Protein Kinase 1) reguliert den Zelltod: Es bestimmt daruber, ob eine Zelle uberlebt oder ob sie Kinase-abhangig einer Apoptose oder aber einer inflammatorisch-lytischen Nekroptose unterlauft. Welche Rolle die RIPK1-Aktivierung bei der Pathogenese der COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) spielt, untersuchte eine belgische Arbeitsgruppe in Zusammenarbeit mit weiteren internationalen Forschenden.
