摘要
Health disparities disproportionately affect individ-uals from underprivileged backgrounds who have an array of different cultures. Improving cultural competence and cultural humility are 2 ways in which dermatologists help lessen the burden of health disparities for patients. Fostering cultural awareness, knowledge, and skills through organi-zations may serve as a starting point. Aims toward augmenting diversity within dermatology and increasing skin of color clinics can provide oppor-tunities for competence and humility development. In turn, the development of better cultural compe-tence and humility will improve understanding of health care disparities and promote a commitment to addressing inequities in health care.
