An unidentified edition of Erasmus of Rotterdam's Libellus de octo orationis partium constructione attributed to John Colet ( Barcelona 1578)

The objective of this article is to present and study the hitherto unidentified edition of Erasmus of Rotterdam's Libellus de octo orationis partium constructione printed by Samson Arbus in Barcelona in 1578. After introducing the work and its editorial tradition, this article focuses on the material description of this edition and of its only preserved copy (Biblioteca Civica Romolo Spezioli, Fermo). It also offers an approximation to the textual form of the edition in regard to the previous editorial tradition in the context of the reactions against Erasmus at the time.
