摘要
Acute mesenteric ischemia based on an arterial thrombosis is a life-threatening event because of an insufficient perfusion in the region of the small and large bowels. The rapid diagnosis and treatment are aggravated by the unspecific abdominal complaints, which is the reason for the poor prognosis of this disease. Acute revascularization of the arteriosclerotically modified mesenteric vessels can be carried out by endovascular treatment with stent implantation or open surgical treatment by placement of a mesenteric bypass. Another alternative procedure is retrograde open mesenteric stenting (ROMS). By immediate restoration of the mesenteric perfusion the morbidity and mortality of these patients can be greatly reduced.
