Architecture and Social Housing The Santo Domingo Housing Complex in the City of Cordoba Revisited from the VEA Plan

The purpose of this article was to analyze the design strategies used by the architects Jaime and Miguel Angel Roca in the Santo Domingo housing complex in the city of Cordoba in 1970, and inquire about the relations of these strategies with the guidelines of the "Plan Viviendas Economicas Argentinas" (V.E.A.), promoted by the national government between 1969 and 1972. Likewise, we consider that the implementation of the plan revealed two key issues for its understanding: first, the construction of social housing associated with the logic of industrial production, and second discussions on social housing in the disciplinary field. In this sense, the choice of a case study (designed, managed and built under these guidelines) served to verify the scope, limitations and potential of the plan.
