Effect of hydrogen on the dislocation evolution in an aluminum alloy under cyclic loading by two-dimensional discrete dislocation dynamics

摘要
The aim of this research is to reveal the effect of hydrogen on fatigue crack initiation in an aluminum alloy. First, the effect of hydrogen on the dislocation movement, that is, the hydrogen-enhanced localized plasticity (HELP), was modeled. Two mechanisms of HELP were modeled: reduction of the dislocation interaction stress and an increase of the dislocation velocity by hydrogen. Next, simulations of the early stage of crack initiation were performed by discrete dislocation dynamics with the HELP model. The simulation results indicated that HELP accelerates fatigue crack initiation and the increase of the dislocation velocity by hydrogen is the main mechanism of HELP.
