Injury affects the lives, health, and wellbeing of many children in the United States. Significant inequities exist with injury burden, access to trauma care, and outcomes following injury. Understanding key physiologic and anatomic differences between children and adults can help guide the management of injury. ATLS, when used with certain differences applicable to children, can be used for the initial assessment and management of trauma
