EFFICIENT ESTIMATION OF POPULATION MEAN UTILIZING KNOWN MEDIAN OF AUXILIARY VARIABLE IN THE PRESENCE OF NON-RESPONSE

摘要
Sample surveys frequently experience the problem of non-response. Because of this, strategies for overcoming the obstacle every time it arises must be developed. In this paper, we suggest a new generalized ratio type estimator of population mean of main variable utilizing the known information on the auxiliary parameters. The bias and the Mean Squared Error (MSE) of the proposed estimator are derived up to the approximation of order one. The optimum value of the scalar is obtained and the minimum MSE for this optimum value of the scalar is also obtained. The proposed estimator is compared with other existing estimators of population mean under the problem of non-response both theoretically and empirically. The results show that the proposed estimator is more efficient than the other mentioned existing estimators.
