Sleep disorders are very common among older people. It is important to distinguish the physiological changes of sleep due to aging from sleep disorders. When treating sleep disorders in the elderly, geriatric assessment results should be considered. The comprehensive geriatric assessment enables individualized treatment for frail patients and patients with dementia, and helps to avoid incorrect and over- or under-treatment.
