Thomas Hobbes's reception of Christianity. The Hobbesian Christology as cause of his discredit

The article analyses Thomas Hobbes's Christology as cause of his discredit as a Christian thinker or, even as an atheist, eventually affecting the validity of his political theology. The author believes that notwithstanding that Hobbes makes use of the Bible to support his political theory, his reception of Christianity it is no entirely correct due to the fact that his interpretation is strongly influenced for his political decision in favor of absolutism. This political position leads Hobbes to choose ad -hoc texts that give support to his theory and to ignore others that do not do it. Thus leaving out important aspects of Christianity; one, the most central, the figure and significance of Jesus Christ and his Kingdom and the author concludes that Hobbes exhibits a minimalistic view of Christianity that influences his political theology
