Random lasing of photons in the Au nanochains solution with active medium

Multiple scattering of light by local surface plasmon resonances is characterized by random lasing in film devices. We investigate the random lasing from the Au nanochains solution with active medium (dye, and CdSe/ZnS quantum dots). The surface plasmon resonance light scattering produces emissive profiles and corresponding discrete lasing peaks. The central wavelength of lasing is tuned with the increase in the chain length or with the reduction in the gap distance. We extract the lasing properties in a multiple scattering regime from transmission path of the photons and from amplification of the optical feedback. The measured random transmission profiles and total lasing spectra curves are well demonstrated by our experiments for the Au nanochains solution containing dye or CdSe/ZnS quantum dots.
