Iron Carbide Synthesis Using an Electric Arc Submerged in Fuel Oil

摘要
In this paper, synthesis of iron carbide in a recessed fuel oil electric arc between steel and graphite electrodes was carried out. As a result, FeC and Fe2C were found. Fe2C has a solid bulk structure. FeC is coiled into nanoballs 100-500 nm in size. The new steel will also include carbon nanotubes, which give the steel hardness and strength.
