Die modifizierte Atkins Diat (MAD) wird schon seit langem als Zusatztherapie bei therapie-refraktarer Epilepsie eingesetzt. Allerdings liegen bislang nur belastbare Daten fur den Einsatz bei Kindern mit Epilepsie vor. Daher wurden in dieser prospektiven, randomisierten, kontrollierten Studie untersucht, ob die Kombination von MAD mit einer anfallssuppressiven Medikation (ASM) effektiver als eine ASM alleine ist.
