Electric Vehicles (EVs) charging can be performed using clean household photovoltaic (PV) energy. Photovoltaic technology produces eco-friendly electricity, reducing carbon emissions. As the energy production is performed in the consuming spot, there are no grid losses. More efficient than storing energy is to use it directly. EV ownership in PV grid-tied households requires careful management of available power to avoid exceeding contracted power, ensuring cost and efficiency in PV installations. It is necessary to consider household appliances that can have usage priority during charging. If more than one EV is being charged, establishing charging priorities is probably also mandatory. These facts led to an evolution in the design of the IEVCC system, which stands for Intelligent Electric Vehicle Charger Controller, considering its use with photovoltaic installations. Two case studies that explore real applications of IEVCC system and its results are presented.
