摘要
Burn is considered as critical medical condition which need a continuous monitoring for treatment. The therapeutic strategy depends on the nature and depth of burn wound and the each stage of healing is different which critically needs special microenvironments. To dates, many commercial medical textiles and conventional products are clinically used that has undoutebly increased the survival rates of the patients and successfully repair the injured tissue. But their temporary protection of the denuded tissue or partial restoration of the native skin like tissue demands advanced tool to improve the quality of life of the burn victims. Here, nanofiber has shown to offer a nexus of advantages. The root cause is the interconnected nanostructure that can retain the scaffold at the wound site for prolonged time without disturbance and the tunable flexibility. The objective of this review article is to epitomize the properties, usage of nanofiber based dressings for burn management as a drug delivery vehicle and as a prototype of tissue engineering scaffold. The lacks in the research area with probable further requirements to construct better active wound dressing and commercialization has been pointed out. However, the recent advancements like ice-fiber dressing, customized nano-bandage, and other integrated approaches like nanofiber hydrogel that have been discussed with clinical evidences have proclaimed the nanofibers as an excellent biomedical tool for burn wound healing.
