摘要
This review paper extensively examines the significance of methanol as a vital commodity chemical with broad applications in chemical synthesis and as a fuel source. The production of methanol heavily relies on the utilization of catalysts and industrial reactors. The primary focus of this paper is to provide a comprehensive analysis of various catalysts and reactor companies that play a crucial role in methanol production. The review delves into the synthesis of methanol, encompassing the feedstock used, reaction conditions, and the diverse catalysts and reactors employed in the process. Among the discussed reactor types and catalysts are prominent names such as Lurgi, Casale, Linde, Toyo, Mitsubishi, and Haldor Topsoe. The advantages and disadvantages of each catalyst and reactor technology are carefully evaluated, considering their performance, selectivity, stability, and cost. Furthermore, this study incorporates the most recent advancements in research and development endeavors geared towards enhancing methanol production. This includes innovations in catalyst and reactor design, as well as the exploration of alternative feedstocks. By thoroughly reviewing the current state of the field, the paper concludes by offering valuable recommendations for future research, aimed at addressing the key challenges faced by the methanol production industry. In essence, this paper is a valuable resource for researchers, engineers, and industry professionals actively engaged in methanol production. It sheds light on the latest developments in catalyst and reactor technology and their potential impact on the industry, making it a comprehensive and informative source of knowledge.
