摘要
Ferroptosis is increasingly being recognized as a keyelement inthe pathogenesis of diverse diseases. Recent studies have highlightedthe intricate links between iron metabolism and neurodegenerativedisorders. Emerging evidence suggests that iron homeostasis, oxidativestress, and neuroinflammation all contribute to the regulation ofboth ferroptosis and neuronal health. However, the precise molecularmechanisms underlying the involvement of ferroptosis in the pathologicalprocesses of neurodegeneration and its impact on neuronal dysfunctionremain incompletely understood. In our Review, we provide a comprehensiveanalysis and summary of the potential molecular mechanisms underlyingferroptosis in neurodegenerative diseases, aiming to elucidate thedisease progression of neurodegeneration. Additionally, we discusspotential therapeutic agents that modulate ferroptosis with the goalof identifying novel drug molecules for the treatment of neurodegenerativedisorders.
