Judicialization of public health in the state of rondônia: its overview and the vision of the actors who experience the phenomenon

The research that gave rise to this article had the general objective of understanding the judicialization of public health in the State of Rondonia (BR). The locus of research is the public health of the subnational government of Rondonia and three counties with high economic and population importance within the state. Achieving the objective requires adopting both a quantitative and a qualitative approach. The quantitative part involved descriptive analysis of data provided by official bodies linked to the judicialization of public health in the State of Rondonia and controlled counties. From a qualitative perspective, semi-structured interviews were carried out with actors involved in the daily life of public health judicialization, as well as observations, meetings and document collection on two experiences considered to be a reference for mitigating conflicts arising from the judicialization of the SUS. Qualitative data were treated through thematic content analysis. Among those started in the present study, it can be mentioned that the judicialization of public health in the State of Rondonia is a growing phenomenon and this fact brings a description to the administrative routine and resources for all public agencies involved in the process. There are few initiatives to mitigate the phenomenon. When they exist, they are individual initiatives, not initiated and inspired in an institutional way.
