Implementation of Point-of-Care Ultrasound Training Into Nurse Practitioner Student Education: A Cohort Study

Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) has become ubiquitous in clinical practice and the standard of care in the augmentation of physical examination and procedures for providers in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Nurse practitioners are core members of the health care team, with many already using POCUS in their practice. Despite this, there is a lack of consensus about integrating POCUS into graduate education. This study evaluated the implementation of a multimodal POCUS education program for adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner students and found that after this intervention participants self-reported increased comfort, confidence, and understanding with POCUS.(c) 2023 Elsevier Inc.
