This study aims to prioritize effective factors in training environmental concepts based on teaching models in higher education of Iran. In this descriptive-survey study, opinions of 17 education experts were studied to prioritize effective factors in training environmental concepts in higher education of Iran. Moreover, 20 education experts who were professional in teaching models were studied to determine the best teaching model for teaching environmental concepts in a purposeful way in the academic year 2020-21. The assessment tools were a pairwise comparison questionnaire for the environmental concepts of higher education and a pairwise comparison questionnaire to select the best teaching model. The data of the first questionnaire related to the environmental factors of higher education were used by DEMATEL technique (Excel software), and Fuzzy TOPSIS method was used for the second questionnaire related to teaching models. In this study, according to experts of environmental concepts in Higher education, the factors of socio-cultural commitments about the environment, professors and political decisions affecting the environment were ranked as the first to third in terms of effectiveness, respectively. The evaluation of environmental knowledge, familiarity of higher education staff with the environment, and the structure of the organization were ranked as the first to third in terms of influential factors. Individual teaching models were estimated as the best one for successful teaching according to the factors of environmental concepts in higher education, and traditional teaching models were considered as the worst one.
