Valvular Heart Failure due to Tricuspid Regurgitation Surgical and Transcatheter Management Options

Appropriate diagnosis and treatment of patients with TR requires an understanding of the complex structure of the TV anatomy and surrounding structures. Care of patients with symptomatic se-vere TR requires a multidisciplinary team approach with involvement of the patient's general cardiologist, structural interventional cardiologist, structural imaging cardiologist, and HF specialists. To accurately define the cause, severity, deter-mine appropriate therapy, intraprocedural guid-ance, and guide follow-up management, a multimodality imaging approach is beneficial (eg, TTE, cardiac CT, and CMR). With these aspects in mind all patients benefit from an early referral to a Comprehensive Valve Center9 with a TV Heart Team for the coordination of the specialized care and imaging required. It is currently an exciting time for those caring for patients with TV regurgita-tion, as transcatheter therapeutic treatment op-tions are rapidly expanding to supplement current surgical treatments.
