摘要
Brazil is considered to be one of the leading mineral resource producers worldwide, alongside other major countries such as Australia, Canada, China, the United States, and Russia. The mining industry plays a crucial role in the country's economic development, contributing to domestic income and tax revenue while also creating direct and indirect jobs. This study aims to provide estimates of the long-term local job multipliers resulting from employment changes in the metal mining industry in Brazil, focusing specifically on the two largest mining states: Minas Gerais and Para. The results indicate significant job linkages in retail and wholesale, services, construction, manufacturing, and public administration, especially in the municipalities where the metal mining industry is located, with greater job multipliers. However, there are also effects in neighboring municipalities. Additionally, the states of Para and Minas Gerais demonstrate distinct job multipliers, which can be informative for regional development policies.
