To the Editor: In the BOX trial, Kjaergaard et al. (Oct. 20 issue)(1) found no significant difference in the percentages of patients who died or had severe disability between those who were treated with a high (77 mm Hg) or a low (63 mm Hg) mean arterial blood-pressure target. As discussed by the authors, the clinical significance of the mean difference in mean arterial blood pressure between the two groups, at only 10.7 mm Hg, is unclear. In addition, it is possible that the targeted mean arterial pressure was insufficient in patients with impaired cerebral autoregulation. Ameloot et al. reported . . .
